I’m a writer, editor, and librarian living in the greater Seattle area. You can find my work in New York Magazine, Slate, MSNBC, The Daily Beast, Vice News, Buzzfeed News, Rolling Stone, and Longreads, among other publications.

I write Ask A Sober Lady, a free newsletter about substance use and addiction recovery.

From March 2021 to March 2023, I was a health science journalist for Inverse.

In 2020, André Aciman selected my essay for The Small Bow as a Notable Essay in that year’s Best American Essays anthology.

In 2018, I was a story and field producer on a documentary about the pediatric use of medical cannabis.

I was a co-founder and associate editor of Anxy magazine, an award-winning magazine about mental health. 

Before becoming a full-time writer, I was a public librarian and taught creative writing to high school students.

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Oberlin College and my Master’s in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. 

I am periodically available for speaking events and private writing coaching and assistance.
